Located at 1245 East Island Highway, next to the Parksville Tourist Information Center; the Parksville Museum opened in 1983, displaying a number of heritage buildings from the time of the first settlers in the area. Aside from the wonderful array of historical artifacts located in the main building, the site also encompasses 8 heritage buildings that serve as a window into the life of early settlers.
The Parksville Museum includes Knox Heritage Church, Craig Cottage, French Creek Post Office, Gaetjen House Display, McMillan Log House, Craig's Crossing Post Office, Montrose School, Blacksmith Shop, Parksville Fire Hall, Cowichan Band Racing Canoe, Pavilion and the main exhibit hall the Englishman River Building.
The Blacksmith Shop offers two blacksmiths; one traditional blacksmith (Red Cod Forge) and one traditional Japanese sword/knife maker (Island Blacksmith) using their traditional techniques and tools. Contact us today for their times and other featured artists of the Traditional Crafters Program.
